Scope and content
The series contains 112 files for residential projects undertaken by E.S. Blanchard. They are primarily for homes and apartment buildings in Charlottetown and the surrounding area but also include buildings in Emerald Junction, Montague, Bay Fortune, Roseneath, Halifax, N.S., Lake Champlain, N.Y. and Westmount, Quebec. The latter was undertaken by the earlier firm of Blanchard and Conrad. There is also one project file with plans attributed to James Harris and a project in 1957 with the architect unidentified. A number of the projects are for additions and alterations to existing structures, many for conversion of residences into apartment building. As well as elevations, floor and site plans, and drawings of details, the files may contain photographs, specifications, correspondence and working notes. They are arranged alphabetically by the name of the client.
