Biographical history

John Robins was born in Amboy, New Jersey in 1756. He served as an ensign with her Majesty's Kings Rangers stationed in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, in 1782. In 1784 he settled in Lower Bedeque and in 1788 married Mary Hooper, the eldest daughter of his neighbour. John and Mary Robins had six known children one of whom was Thomas (1796-1882) who married Isabella Bearisto (1809-1869) of Malpeque in 1827. The children of Thomas and Isabella intermarried into the Wyatt, Martin, MacLeod and Clark families.

Scope and content

This fonds consists of a letter from Rebeckah and Sarah Jewll in New Jersey to Ann Montgomery on PEI, a commission of Murdoch MacLeod in the Prince County Volunteers (1861) and 15 images of descendants primarily of Thomas and Isabella (Bearisto) Robins and their daughter Mary who married Murdoch MacLeod.
