PEI Launches Guide for Newcomers

The Honourable Michael Currie, Minister of Development and Technology is pleased to announce the release of Welcome to Prince Edward Island: A Guide for Newcomers.

The user-friendly document contains an abundance of information that can be used as an orientation guide for people moving to Prince Edward Island.

Minister Currie said that the Government of Prince Edward Island’s Population Secretariat developed the extensive guide that provides detailed information to help newcomers adapt to life on the Island.

“Immigrants have always played an important role in the growth and development of our province,” said Minister Currie. “The Island boasts a clean, friendly, safe environment. It is a perfect place to raise a family and this information guide will assist many families integrate into life in Prince Edward Island.”

The guide presents information and advice on every day situations such as where to go to purchase specialty foods, advice on purchasing a home or renting an apartment, as well as helpful tips on banking information and where to go to access government services.

“This resource is of particular benefit to immigrants moving to PEI as it facilitates their settlement by putting essential information into their hands,” said Kevin Arsenault, executive director of the PEI Newcomers Association.

The Welcome to Prince Edward Island: A Guide for Newcomers is available in English and French.
