New wildlife card available

“Through discussions with hunters and trappers, as well as staff, we have developed a new wildlife card that combines required information and certifications from a number of cards onto one card making it more efficient for people,” Minister Brown said.
The redesigned card features a colourful picture of a ruffed grouse taken by Island birder Dwaine Oakley. The cards will be phased in to replace existing cards held by Islanders trained in hunter safety and bow hunter safety, fur harvesters and professional guides. They will be required for people purchasing hunting and trapping licences. New applicants will receive the cards at no charge. There is a $5 fee for replacements.
“In the future, we will look at using a similar card for anglers and other fish and wildlife clients or special permit holders,” Mr. Brown said.
