Governments of Canada and Prince Edward Island invest in job creation in West Prince

The Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of National Revenue and Minister for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), and the Honourable Allen Roach, PEI Minister of Innovation and Advanced Learning, today announced funding for IO Solutions Call Center to support its expanding workforce.

“Our Government is proud to invest in projects like this one that will help to create jobs and growth in a rural community and strengthen the local economy,” said Minister Shea. “I am very pleased to see a rural-based company experience this strong growth. It is through companies like IO Solutions Call Center that our region will benefit from long-term prosperity.”

IO Solutions Call Center is expanding their Bloomfield call centre to accommodate a growing demand for their customer support services. The company will purchase new, specialized telephony equipment and install new workstations to support their growing workforce.

“The Government of Prince Edward Island is pleased to announce its investment to assist IO Solution hiring 70 additional positions in rural Prince Edward Island,” said Minister Roach. “The company has a successful model to employ people in rural Prince Edward Island, providing year-round, skill building positions. This project is an example matching labour programs with business needs to further accelerate job growth”

The Government of Canada, through ACOA’s Business Development Program, has invested $375,000 to help with the purchase of specialized equipment to accommodate for their growth. The Government of Prince Edward Island through Innovation PEI has invested $540,000 for employees hired over three years through the Labour Rebate program, as well as a $168,000 contribution from Skills PEI for eligible positions through the Employ PEI program, to help hire the additional employees. Employ PEI is a program of the Canada- PEI Labour Market Development Agreement.

“We opened in August 2012 with a demand for 100 seats and since then the skilled work force of West Prince PEI has exceeded our expectations,” said Mr. Elie Chebli, CEO, IO Solutions Call Center. “We are proud today to announce the expansion of our facility for an additional 70 seats. With this expansion a total of 170 jobs will have been created in the west prince region. This expansion has been possible in great part due to the help of the Federal and the Provincial Government.”

IO Solutions Call Center has acquired a diversified portfolio of clients in the telecom, media, banking, energy, software, and financial services fields. They also have a bilingual, multi-task delivery capability, and are successful in compliant service delivery.
