Islanders invited to offer their ideas for Budget 2014
Finance and Energy
Government is moving steadily toward its fiscal targets and is looking for feedback from Islanders into the 2014-2015 provincial budget, says Finance, Energy and Municipal Affairs Minister Wes Sheridan.
“There are always great discussions at our pre-budget consultation roundtables,” said Minister Sheridan. “We want to continue the conversation around the best ways to reach a balanced budget. Are we allocating funding to programs and services in a way that is aligned with the priorities of Islanders? Are there ways to save? If taxes were reduced, how would we offset the increased deficit?
Anyone interested in participating in one of these pre-budget roundtables can register by phoning (902) 620-3679 before Thursday, January 30.
The consultation sessions will run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. as follows:
• Wednesday, February 5, Summerside (storm date of February 18);
• Thursday, February 6, Charlottetown (storm date of February 19);
• Wednesday, February 12, Alberton (storm date of February 20); and
• Thursday, February 13, Souris (storm date of February 21).
There will be interpretation services at the Summerside session for those wanting to participate in French.
You can also provide feedback for the 2014/2015 Budget by responding to an online questionnaire at www.gov.pe.ca/budgetsubmissions. Written submissions are also welcome, and can be submitted before 4 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2014 by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or delivered or mailed to:
