This subseries consists of two volumes which record the maintenance expenditures on public buildings such as Government House and Prince of Wales College or on other activities such as ferries and roads which were the responsibility of the Department of Public Works. Under each building or activity expenditures are recorded monthly under categories such as rent, repairs, fuel, supplies, cleaning, painting, inspection, salaries etc. The volumes are indexed and recapitulations of totals appear at the end of each year. Volume 1 covers the time period 1894 to 1896 while volume 2 documents the years 1897 to 1900.
