Scope and content
This series focuses on affairs in Senator Phillip's constituency of the federal Prince Edward Island riding of Prince/Egmont. Many files are devoted to the Senator's interest and involvement in major controversial issues such as the closure of CFB Summerside and subsequent use of base, Litton Corporation proposal to establish in PEI, the Cultural Events Center in Summerside, the Sprung Greenhouse proposal and to his support of commercial and cultural initiatives in his riding. It includes correspondence from individuals, companies and associations requesting assistance with acceptance of applications for project money, sponsorship, residency in Canada, pensions, jobs. Etc., as well as correspondence and contracts for individuals who did research for the Senator. Of particular interest is a study entitled "The Prince Edward Island fishing industry; a background study: the fishery, the participants, and conservation and protection" requisitioned in 1991 by Senator Phillips and his colleague Senator Eileen Rossiter.
